Keeping records of work without the weekend paperwork

Records of work are easier when they are written little and often. Aim for two minutes at the end of each lesson, not two hours on Friday evening.
- Keep the record book or template on your desk, not in your bag.
- Record what was actually covered, not only what was planned.
- Note learners who need follow-up so you remember to revisit them.
- Tick off the scheme of work as you go so gaps are obvious.
Always follow the format and requirements of your school and the Teachers Service Commission. A well-kept record also makes handovers, inspections and appraisal much less stressful.
